About Michelle Maylor: Your Journey to Wellbeing
Welcome! I'm Michelle Maylor, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist dedicated to helping you navigate life's challenges and find greater wellbeing. My passion lies in person-centred therapy, a powerful approach that places you at the heart of the therapeutic process.
Person-Centred Therapy: A Journey of Self-Discovery
Person-centred therapy is a gentle and non-judgmental approach that focuses on your unique experiences, feelings, and goals. It empowers you to explore your inner world, gain self-awareness, and develop your own solutions. By creating a safe and supportive space, I help you:
Uncover your inner strength and resilience.
Develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your emotions.
Build healthy coping mechanisms for life's challenges.
Gain confidence in your ability to make positive changes.
My Role: Guiding You Through Your Journey
It's important to understand that my role as a counsellor is not to tell you what to do or how to feel. Instead, I'm here to provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions, unpack your experiences, and discover your own path forward.
A Range of Therapies to Suit Your Needs
While person-centred therapy is my primary focus, I am also trained in other therapeutic modalities, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): This evidence-based approach helps you identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviours.
Solution-Focused Therapy: This practical approach focuses on identifying and building upon your strengths and desired outcomes.
Integrative Therapy: This approach draws upon various therapeutic techniques to create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
Qualifications and Expertise
My commitment to providing high-quality care is rooted in both my academic qualifications and practical experience. I hold a Level 6 Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Edge Hill University, enabling me to register with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Through my work with Macmillan and Mind, I gained invaluable experience in supporting individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges. This experience, combined with my academic foundation, has equipped me with a diverse set of skills and deep understanding of the complexities of mental well-being.
The Importance of Choosing a Registered Counsellor
Choosing a qualified and registered counsellor is crucial for your wellbeing. The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) sets high standards of training, ethics, and professional practice, ensuring that you receive safe and effective care. Worryingly, there are individuals offering counselling services without proper qualifications, training, experience or registration, which can potentially cause harm.
